Short answer
A replacement DPF filter's price depends on the vehicle, whether it is an original (OEM), aftermarket or remanufactured unit, whether the catalyst is integrated, and fitting and coding costs. Check whether the existing filter can be cleaned first: cleaning usually costs much less.

OEM, aftermarket or remanufactured?
Original equipment (OEM) filters come from the vehicle manufacturer’s supply chain and usually cost most. Aftermarket filters are made by other manufacturers to fit the vehicle; quality and catalyst loading vary, so check approvals and warranty. Remanufactured filters are used cores that have been cleaned, tested and sometimes recoated, and can be a cost-effective middle option.
Whichever you choose, the replacement should meet the emissions standard for the vehicle so it passes emissions testing.
Fitting and coding
Many vehicles need the ECU told that a new filter has been fitted, so that soot and ash values are reset. Budget for this alongside fitting, gaskets and any sensor work.
Is replacement really needed?
A filter that is blocked but undamaged can often be restored by cleaning. See cleaning vs replacement and DPF cleaning cost before buying a new filter. For buying advice, see DPF filters.
What affects the cost
DPF prices vary by vehicle and market and change often, so this table explains what moves the price instead of listing figures.
| Factor | Effect on cost |
|---|---|
| Vehicle and engine | Filter size, design and demand differ widely between models; commercial vehicles typically use larger units. |
| OEM vs aftermarket vs remanufactured | OEM usually costs most; remanufactured units are often the lowest-cost option. |
| Integrated catalyst | Units combining the DPF with an oxidation catalyst cost more. |
| Fitting | Labour depends on access to the exhaust on your vehicle. |
| Coding and adaptation | Resetting ECU values after fitting may need dealer-level software. |
